JKG was founded in 1913 by Stella Holm under the name Jakobstads Kvinnliga Gymnastikförening. The association was registered on January 21st, 1923. The association’s name was changed on June 6th, 2001 to Jakobstads Gymnastikförening, but the well-known abbreviation JKG remained. Since the start, the activities have developed from including a couple of groups to about 40 groups a week, which are held by about 40 instructors. JKG has today approximately 800 members, of which 100 are boys and men.
Our endeavor is to offer training for persons of all ages regardless of background, language, gender and experience. The youngest can do gymnastics with mom or dad in the family group, while the slightly older children can choose their own group. Boys are welcome in all children’s groups.
Adults can exercise at both lighter and heavier sessions. Our dance classes are popular both for young persons and adults. JKG’s dance groups participate in various events also internationally. Welcome!
